Something filled up my heart with nothing.
Someone told me not to cry.
But now that I'm older my heart is colder

charcoal's pretty easy...it's easier to draw in your whites than erase them out or leave them out (as in pencil/graphite). but use charcoal pencils for best control!

I do have a tutorial which I do a portrait, it shows all the tools I use:

Thanks i'm after looking at it there, and it's very informative, and helped me with what materials i need to get....I know this is not the only way to draw using charcoal but it is one way, and i'll try it out to see how it fits....
