Thanks! It was a really nice close-up of Hunter to work from. I'll give it to him next week if I see him. :D

Man’s evolution consists in the process of changing to forms that are not of this world. Grows he in time to the formless — to live on a higher plane. Know that you must become formless before you can be one with the Light.

Wow! is putting it mildly! I love this a lot. Especially the eyes. When I opened it, it came full view, and I was shocked that it was charcoal, and envyious of your talent! I was expecting it to be pencil because of the wonderful detail in the eyes! The eyes capture the viewer and they sparkle with life. I am not sure how you did all your shading and blending but to have it so smooth and light is still a wonder to me. This is a excellent piece and such a pleasure to view, and to be envious over! Thanks!

I noticed that you have used white chalk or white charcoal. I also noticed the very white lines in the face, such as the top of the lips, nose, and chin areas, were those done with the white charcoal or eraser? It seems that you use white charcoal to add the lighter details, is that correct? What kind of white charcoal do you use and where do you get it from? I think I could use the white charcoal in my pieces too. I tend to blend too deeply into the paper and then have a hard time making the highlights light enough to be the right shade of light. I end up making every thing darker to allow for the light gray highlights to look like bright highlights. Still learning as you can see. Any detail tips suggestions you can give me would be very appreciated! Thanks

Joe
